Having moved to Wandsworth just shy of two years ago, Battersea Power Station has replaced Westfield White City as my go-to Christmas shopping destination, and for good reason.
Aside from looking like it could serve as the backdrop for a scene in The Nutcracker, Battersea’s effort to become a multi-purpose lifestyle destination has made it one of the most romantic spots in London for a festive day out. It is the perfect place to combine Christmas shopping with a date without ever leaving the warmth of one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.
11:00am — Christmas Shopping in The Turbine Halls
Start your day wandering through the turbine halls of Battersea Power Station. Browse the luxury boutiques and hunt for the perfect presents. For loved ones, stop by Apple or even Rolex depending on your budget. For kids, you cannot go wrong with the Transformers or Peppa Pig stores on the lower levels, and for parents or grandparents, something timeless like a cosy jumper from Uniqlo or sleek sportswear from Nike will always be a win.

2:00pm — Lunch at Roti King (£50 for two)
Battersea has endless dining options, but if you are a true foodie who does not mind getting your hands a little messy, there is nowhere better than Roti King. Order the classic Chicken Roti, soft and perfectly layered, and if you are vegetarian, go for the Dhal.
Pair either with the Mee Goreng, stir-fried egg noodles with chicken, prawns, peanuts and tofu. It is one of those dishes that hits every note at once. Whatever you do, do not skip the Milo Ice. Think childhood chocolate milk, just colder, creamier, and infinitely better.
4:00pm — Lift 109 (£32 for two)
As the sun starts to dip over London, make your way to Lift 109. The glass elevator glides smoothly up the north chimney, taking you 109 metres into the air where panoramic views of the city unfold beneath you. It is surprisingly romantic, calmer, quieter, and far more intimate than the London Eye, without the crowds of tourists. A small moment of stillness above the chaos below.
5:30pm — Boat Trip on The Thames Clipper (£19 for two)
By early evening, Battersea’s lights shimmer against the river, and there is no better way to end the day than by stepping aboard the Thames Clipper. The boat glides past London’s skyline, from Chelsea Bridge to Westminster, all twinkling beneath the night sky. It feels peaceful and cinematic, the kind of journey that invites conversation to slow and the city to feel yours for a moment. Grab a window seat, wrap up in your coat, and let the gentle hum of the water carry you home.
